Study Abroad

The College of Architecture supports students in their efforts to broaden their academic and personal horizons by participating in study abroad opportunities. To this end, the College of Architecture administers the following study abroad options for our students:

· Faculty Led Programs: These programs are coordinated through the College of Architecture. Faculty members from the College of Architecture serve as the instructors of record for courses that are offered as a part of these programs.

· Exchange Programs: Bi-lateral agreements between the College of Architecture and various schools of design provide students with the opportunity to study for up to a year in a foreign country. Exchange programs are ideal for students who are self-directed, motivated and can quickly adapt to diverse and unfamiliar settings. Foreign language proficiency is recommended for these programs.

· Internships: The College of Architecture currently has an established, long-standing internship available through the sponsorship of Gerald D. Hines. Aptly named the Hines Internships, students selected for this internship will have the opportunity to work in one of two offices, Enric Miralles Benedetta Tagliabue (EMBT) or Fundacion Oscar Tusquets Diaz Architectes, which are located in Barcelona, Spain. Academic credit is not offered for the internship.

· Graduate Study Abroad: Graduate students have the opportunity to fulfill the Seminar Elective requirement of their degree plans by participating in this study abroad initiative. Students will select their own travel destinations and itineraries in advance and develop a research topic or hypothesis, which will be explored during the travel period. Upon completion of the travel, students are required to present their findings to their instructor and peers.

APPLICATION TO A STUDY ABROAD PROGRAM/INITIATIVE: Students who are interested in participating in a Faculty Led Program or International Internship must submit an application for review by the College’s posted deadlines. Deadlines will be announced via the College’s Student Listserv.
