Degree Plans
Every student admitted to the College of Architecture will receive a degree plan as a part of their permanent student record. A degree plan outlines the courses required of the student for successful completion of their architecture degrees. Students are responsible for all of the requirements of the catalog under which they were admitted. Degree plans are updated and/or reviewed only after the student initiates an advising appointment. It is recommended that students meet with an academic advisor at least once a year to review their specific degree plan(s). Before certification for graduation can be made, copies of the degree plan must be on file in the college Dean’s Office and in the Office of Registration and Academic Records. Undergraduate students who have a lapse in enrollment for more than thirteen months must follow the degree plan in the semester that they resume their studies. Graduate students who do not complete their graduate degrees within the prescribed period must reapply and follow the new degree plan in the new admission semester.

Master of Architecture
Master's degree programs may consist of a pre-professional undergraduate degree and a professional graduate degree, which, when earned sequentially, comprise an accredited professional education. However, the pre-professional degree is not, by itself, recognized as an accredited degree. At the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture, the Master of Architecture degree is accredited as a professional degree by the National Architectural Accrediting Board and meets the educational requirements of the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners for registration as an architect in the state of Texas.
